Why didn’t I just buy them when I first saw them, then I wouldn’t feel so sad right now!

Maybe it’s fate… yeah that’s what it is, I wasn’t meant to have them… I hate fate!

This is what happened to me recently when I finally made the decision to purchase these Iron Fist Round Toe Pink Animal Drop Dead Print shoes from Miss Butterfly.

The first time I laid eyes on them was when my mum brought a UK magazine over to Australia a couple of months ago. I tore out the page and kept it with me feeling that if it was meant to be then they would still be waiting for me when I got to the UK.

I checked the website as soon as I got to the UK and there they were beaming at me, ahhhh great. But instead of buying them straight away I decided to hold off, why oh why?? Then the day I go to buy them they are cruelly snatched away from me!

Feeling like fate had won again I concluded that it just wasn’t meant to be… but what if it was and they were just making me work a little harder to prove my devotion to them?

So I decided to press the ‘contact us’ button and send an enquiry as to when new stock in my size might be coming in. Not expecting it to work or even get a reply I didn’t hold out much hope…

But then the next day there was a message in my inbox to say that yes there was a new consignment of my size in stock and they would be ready for purchase asap.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

So the next day again excitedly I go to the website, credit card in hand. But still they don’t have my size… that’s ok, maybe they haven’t had time to update the website, best I send another message.

“Thank you for your email. I have just been on the website and it is still out of stock in my size, please could you inform me when the website has been updated and I will make my purchase. Thank you.”

Now just wait patiently…

The reply pops into my inbox but its not good news. In the time that it took me to read the email and act upon it, the website had been restocked of my size and sold out again! At least that’s what they’re telling me… Cheek!

So cruelly snatched away, TWICE!

They obviously didn’t love me as much as I loved them…

The choice of holiday shoes should be made with practicality in mind but rarely is this the case. The amount of people I watched tottering around the ancient ruins of the Acropolis in heels was astounding. And the sandals that were on sale in the shops were all full leather, usually something I’d jump at the chance to buy, but with all the marble ground around the city it was a recipe for disaster. I’m surprised that Athens hospital isn’t overrun with women with broken ankles!

I remember when I used to take half a suitcase filled with shoes when I went on holiday. I wouldn’t wear half of them but felt that I needed them there ‘just in case’. Even back then though I wouldn’t have been crazy enough to wear high heels for a day of sightseeing!

I just needed to have a different pair of shoes for each outfit. I seemed to be able to cope with wearing one pair of shoes every day at home but not when I went on holiday. Although I suppose back then the annual holiday was such a momentous occasion (we got to wear proper summer shoes!), that a whole new wardrobe was purchased just for a 2 week package holiday to Spain.

I guess that backpacking has made me a more practical traveller these days and I find it a challenge to take as little as possible and utilise everything in my bag!

So what did I take to Greece?… one pair of day flip flops, one pair of evening flip flops, one pair of ballet flats for travelling and sightseeing and one pair of high wedges for a nice evening out… just four pairs of shoes!

Looking at the range available for women you would be forgiven for thinking that the only women that wear wellies have never grown out of the ones they wore as a child. Some of us HAVE grown out of wearing pink bubblegum wellies, so what’s on offer…??

But then I stumble across the best looking wellies I’ve seen in a long long time, from MoovCulture! They’re even lined in 100% Australian Merino Sheepskin, so essentially they are waterproof Uggs. Could they get any better? I don’t think so…

My favourite Moov Boots are these Lemon Tea ones.

But I’m also partial to these Rococo Moov Boots (probably because it reminds me of the bf’s middle name!).

Nasty rain and cold ain’t gonna come between me and my Chai anymore!!

But strange things happen when you search for ‘Hairy shoes’!

Then some VERY SCAREY Nike Hairy Human Shoes… aggghhhhhhh! I cannot even bring myself to put a picture of them on my blog, they are so ugly!

Back to the not quite so scary ‘Brutal Billy Goat‘ by Karin Janssen at the Virtual Shoe Museum.

I’m starting to think that this is not such a good idea… they’d probably get itchy and I’d have to shave them eventually anyway!

Generally though, I always do the “are they worth it?” test before making my purchase.

Recently I have had my eye on a sexy pair of red ankle boots from Wittner, every time I go past the shop I have to look at them… not just because I really like them, but because I’m waiting for the price to magically change to something more reasonable!

At $209 I honestly think they are having a laugh, they are just not worth it. Yes, they are suede but the rest of the boot is poorly made, especially the zip (which I know is going to annoy me in the long run!). Funnily enough, I went past again today and within less than a month they are selling them 50% off! To me that says that they didn’t think they were worth $209 either!!

So you’d think that I would snap-up a pair straight away at $104.50… but no, I bought myself a similar pair yesterday from Rubi Shoes (a Cotton On brand) for $30… yes $30… what a bargain! Ok, so they are purple, and they’re certainly not real Suede but they are worth their price.

So it got me thinking, why do I have such an obsession with red shoes at the moment?? Sure, its probably because they are ‘in’ right now and stand out in the rest of the black and grey sea…. but I think I’ve finally figured out how I can wear them!

Red shoes are not something that can be worn willy-nilly, oh no, it takes guts to wear red shoes. You know, no matter what else you are wearing, they are going to stand out and be the star!

So I’m going to get myself a pair of black skinny jeans… and let them shine!

It’s a shame that Borders sell books, otherwise I’d be straight down there to get myself some of their red sparkly shoes. If I close my eyes, make a wish and tap my heels together 3 times, do you think they will magic themselves from the page on to my feet?
